IN-CAB CAMERAS

In 2016, after an extensive analysis, Lansberry Trucking began to install in-cab camera technology in all of our power units.  Our initial goals for this safety technology were:

  • To improve the overall level of safety across the fleet;
  • Provide management with greater insight into driver performance and enable a better understanding of the various causes of vehicle incidents;
  • Provide management with the ability to conduct more insightful Root-Cause Analysis into our vehicle incidents; and
  • To minimize the costs of our insurance claims.

In order to achieve this, we selected SureCam’s front-facing camera solution.  SureCam’s cameras provide network-connected cameras and tracking technology capable of providing real-time incident video and driving data directly from the scene of any incident.  This technology has been instrumental in providing feedback on driver performance, reportable incidents, near-misses and reduction in insurance claims.  Furthermore, this technology is instrumental in enabling our safety team to provide our drivers with appropriate feedback and training to make them better, safer drivers.

RAND MCNALLY ELECTRONIC LOGGING DEVICES

In 2016, we began to install in-cab telematics technology in all our power units.  Our initial goals for this technology were:

  • To achieve compliance with the 2017 electronic logging mandate;
  • To enhance communication between dispatch and our driver population;
  • To gain greater insight into driving behavior through Alert Monitoring, including the detection of driver performance and maintenance issues.
  • To improve asset tracking capabilities.

Each of these goals had the intent of improving customer and driver satisfaction.

BENDIX® WINGMAN® ADVANCED™ LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM

In 2016, we also began to specify the installation of the Bendix® Wingman® Advanced™ (BWA) technology in all the new trucks we ordered.

Bendix® Wingman® Advanced™'s designed to bring together the following safety technologies:

  • Adaptive cruise control with braking features;
  • Collision mitigation technology; and
  • Full stability technology.

The intent of this safety technology is to assist our drivers in collisions, rollovers, and loss of control situations.
