BACKGROUND

In an effort to broaden our ability to recruit qualified professional truck drivers, we recently developed the Lansberry Trucking Driver Finishing Program.  Our Truck Driver Finishing Program enables us to hire qualified graduates from an accredited Driver Training School and enroll them in our Driver Finishing Program for further, company-specific, training prior to driving solo.

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

Enrollment in this program in no way implies or guarantees a candidate’s successful completion.

Potential Truck Driver Finishing Program candidates can fall into one of two categories.  Details of each category are provided below:

Level 1

  • Must be at least 23 years of age with appropriate class CDL License.
  • Must have completed an accredited school in past 90 days.
  • Must have graduated in the top 20% of the class.
  • Clean MVR/PSP score.
  • General knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations.

Level 2

  • Must be at least 23 years of age with appropriate class CDL License.
  • Must have completed an accredited school within the past 1 year.
  • Clean MVR/PSP score.
  • General knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations.
  • More experience than level 1, but less than 2-years verifiable OTR experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a participant in our Truck Driver Finishing Program, in conjunction with classroom training, trainees will be exposed to a variety of “real world” driving challenges.  A student’s time behind the wheel will gradually increase as they successfully demonstrate the skills necessary to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle in various situations.  In addition, students will be immersed in equipment-specific training that is reflective of the type of equipment the student will be operating once they are released to drive solo.  The length of time a student is in each phase of the program depends on the individual trainees’ ability to understand and successfully demonstrate the skills necessary to move to the next level.

LENGTH OF TRAINING CURRICULUM

There is no maximum time limit for completion of each phase of training; student(s) will advance only after the instructor feels they competently understand and can demonstrate the material presented.  The Driver Finishing Program curriculum will have the following approximate time frames:

  • Classroom (approx. 1-2 weeks)
  • On-site training (approx. 1-2 weeks)
  • Short-Haul / Local Driving (approx. 2-3 weeks with a Driver Trainer)
  • Driver Shadowing (approx. 1-2 weeks)
